The Separating and Throttling Calorimeter (SKU JA-FMAHLE-7345) is a combined steam calorimeter set-up for finding the dryness fraction of wet steam in thermodynamics practicals. Steam first passes through a separating calorimeter that removes water particles and then through a throttling calorimeter with an orifice. The separating calorimeter has inner and outer concentric chambers linked at the top and a perforated metal basket; the throttling calorimeter has a narrow throat (orifice) with pressure gauge and thermometer; a steam generator supplies saturated steam at up to 2 kg/cm2, and a heat exchanger condenses the throttled steam.
