The Dropwise and Filmwise Condensation Apparatus (SKU JA-HTLE-7379) shows the two ways in which steam condenses on a cooled surface and measures the heat transfer coefficient of each. Two water-cooled copper tubes, one with a natural finish and one nickel polished, sit in a compact glass cylinder so the drops and the film can be seen. This condensation heat transfer apparatus has its own 8 litre steam generator with a 1.5 kW heater and digital temperature control.

The condensation apparatus is specified by an 8 litre stainless steel steam generator with a 1.5 kW heater, two copper tubes of about 19 mm diameter and 170 mm length, RTD PT-100 sensors, a Bourdon pressure gauge and a rotameter, as set out below.
