Heat Pipe Demonstrator

The Heat Pipe Demonstrator (SKU JA-HTLE-7371) compares a heat pipe with solid-wall pipes of copper and stainless steel of the same size. Each pipe, about 32 mm in diameter and 350 mm long, is heated at one end by a nichrome band heater, and RTD PT-100 sensors along its length show how fast heat travels to the stainless steel heat sink. This heat pipe demonstrator uses distilled water as the working fluid and suits heat transfer labs.

Experiments with the heat pipe demonstrator
The demonstrator is used to show that a heat pipe carries heat along its length far faster than a solid copper or stainless steel pipe, by comparing the temperature readings on the three pipes under the same heat input.
