Pascals Apparatus
Product Code : JA-FMAHLE-9959
The Pascals Apparatus (SKU JA-FMAHLE-9959) demonstrates that the pressure at the base of a liquid column depends only on its depth, not on the shape of the vessel. Three glass vessels of different shape but the same base diameter are fitted in turn over a flexible diaphragm, and the force on it is balanced with a lever arm and sliding weight. JaincoLab supplies this Pascal's apparatus to engineering colleges, polytechnics and physics laboratories.
Specifications
A machined body carries a horizontal flexible diaphragm retained by an O-ring, onto which a parallel-sided, conical or inward-tapering glass vessel is fitted; the diaphragm transfers the force to a lever arm with sliding counterweight and spirit level, and a height-adjustable pointer sets a common water depth.

Applications of Pascal's apparatus
Pascal's apparatus shows students that vessels holding very different volumes of water exert the same force on the same base area when filled to the same depth, the hydrostatic paradox, which is a basic fluid statics experiment in engineering and physics courses.
- Demonstrating that pressure at the base depends only on depth
- Comparing parallel-sided, conical and tapering vessels at the same depth
- Measuring the force on the diaphragm with the lever arm
- Fluid statics practicals in engineering, polytechnic and B.Sc physics courses
Scope of supply and ordering
The listing covers the machined body with diaphragm, the three glass vessels, lever arm with sliding counterweight, spirit level and depth pointer. Accessories, spares and quantities are confirmed on the quotation.
Minimum order quantity, lead time and packing are confirmed on each quotation for the number of units and the delivery destination. The apparatus is supplied by JaincoLab singly or with other hydrostatics units for colleges and tender orders.
Frequently asked questions
Which vessels are supplied?
Three glass vessels: parallel sided, conical and tapering inwards, all with the same base diameter.
How is the force at the base measured?
The diaphragm transfers it to a lever arm, which is balanced with a sliding counterweight and read level with a spirit level.
Can the diaphragm be replaced?
Yes. It is retained by an O-ring for easy replacement.
