The free jet accessory (SKU JA-FMAHLE-10015) is used with the aerodynamics trainer to study an air jet leaving a pipe into still surroundings. A Pitot tube that slides vertically and horizontally is traversed through the jet so students can map its velocity profile and find the pressure loss at the flow outlet. It is supplied by JaincoLab for air flow and aerodynamics practicals in engineering colleges and polytechnics.

The free jet accessory lets students traverse the Pitot tube across and along an air jet, measure how the velocity profile spreads and decays with distance from the outlet, and determine the pressure loss where the flow discharges into still air.
