The Friction Cotton Cloth (product code JA-EE-7660) is a 300 x 300 mm square of cotton used to charge friction rods by rubbing. A cotton friction cloth is one of the basic consumables of an electrostatics practical: rubbing a rod with it transfers charge, and the charged rod is then used with an electroscope, pith ball or conductor. Because different rod and cloth pairs charge differently, it is usually ordered with the silk cloth and a set of rods.
