The Glass Friction Rod (product code JA-EE-7665) is a 300 x 12 mm glass rod for static electricity experiments. Rubbed with silk, a glass friction rod becomes positively charged, which makes it the standard partner to the negatively charged ebonite rod. Bringing the two charged rods near each other, or near a suspended charged rod, shows that unlike charges attract and like charges repel, the central result of introductory electrostatics.
