Expansion Index Test Apparatus

The expansion index test apparatus measures how much a compacted soil specimen swells when wetted, giving its expansion index. The specimen sits in a 101.6 x 25.4 mm stainless steel ring between porous stones in a cast aluminium base and collar, under a 5.7 kg brass loading weight, with the swell read on a dial indicator; a test takes 24 hours or less on the cured sample (SKU JA-SM-8884).
