The e and m by Thomson Bar Magnet Method apparatus (SKU JA-EMA-1065) measures the specific charge e/m of the electron. The cathode ray tube sits on a wooden frame with a centimetre scale and is run from an 800 V DC EHT supply. A 0-100 V DC supply with moving-coil meters puts the deflecting voltage on the Y plates, and a pair of bar magnets provides the magnetic field that brings the spot back, with a deflection magnetometer and compass stand used to measure that field.
