Characteristics of Nozzles
Product Code : JA-FMAHLE-10019
The characteristics of nozzles unit (SKU JA-FMAHLE-10019) measures the force produced by a compressed air jet so that flow velocity and nozzle efficiency can be found. In one layout it measures the reaction force (thrust) at the nozzle, and in the other the action force of the jet on a baffle plate, both through the deformation of a bending beam. It is supplied by JaincoLab for gas dynamics practicals in engineering colleges.
Specifications
The characteristics of nozzles unit has five brass nozzles of 2 mm diameter (four convergent-divergent with divergent lengths of 3.6 to 15.8 mm and one convergent), a baffle plate, a compressed air regulator of 0 to 8.6 bar and a needle valve for back pressure.

Experiments on the characteristics of nozzles unit
The characteristics of nozzles unit lets students measure the thrust of each nozzle and the jet force on the baffle plate at different pressures, then calculate jet velocity and nozzle efficiency and compare convergent with convergent-divergent contours.
- Reaction force (thrust) of a compressed air jet at the nozzle
- Action force of the jet on a baffle plate at adjustable distances
- Jet velocity and nozzle efficiency
- Comparing convergent and convergent-divergent nozzle contours
- Gas dynamics and thermodynamics practicals for mechanical engineering students
Scope of supply and ordering
The listing covers the experimental unit with the five brass nozzles, the baffle plate, the bending beam force measurement, the compressed air regulator and the needle valve. A compressed air supply of up to 10 bar is needed and is not part of the product data. Accessories, spares and quantities are confirmed on the quotation.
MOQ, lead time and packing for the characteristics of nozzles unit are confirmed on each quotation for the quantity and delivery destination. Single units and orders for new thermo-fluids laboratories are supplied, with export to Africa, the Middle East and South and South-East Asia.
Frequently asked questions
How many nozzles are supplied?
Five brass nozzles of 2 mm diameter: four convergent-divergent nozzles with different contours and one convergent nozzle, plus a baffle plate.
How is the jet force measured?
By the deformation of a bending beam, either as thrust at the nozzle or as the action force of the jet on the baffle plate.
What compressed air is needed?
A supply of up to 10 bar; the unit uses about 5 g/s of air and its regulator controls 0 to 8.6 bar.
