The Study of 4 Bit Ripple Counter Forward and Reverse apparatus (SKU JA-DEECP-1173) is used to verify the truth tables of an asynchronous 4-bit counter built from four JK flip-flops. The clock of each flip-flop is driven by the previous stage, so the count ripples through. Cascading the Q outputs gives forward counting from 0000 to 1111; cascading the complemented outputs gives reverse counting from 1111 to 0000. LED indicators show each flip-flop output.
