Pipe Friction for Laminar and Turbulent Flow
Product Code : JA-FMAHLE-9993
The Pipe Friction for Laminar and Turbulent Flow unit (SKU JA-FMAHLE-9993), supplied by JaincoLab, measures the friction loss in a small-bore pipe in both flow regimes. For laminar flow a transparent tank with overflow gives a constant inlet head and the pressure drop is read on twin tube manometers; for turbulent flow the pipe is fed from the laboratory supply and a dial-gauge manometer is used. This laminar and turbulent flow apparatus sets the flow with valves.
Specifications
The pipe friction unit is specified by a pipe section of 400 mm length and 3 mm inside diameter, a 5 litre tank, twin tube manometers of 2 x 370 mm WC and a dial-gauge manometer of 0 to 0.4 bar.

Experiments with the laminar and turbulent flow apparatus
The unit is used to measure pressure loss against flow rate in a narrow pipe, identify the change from laminar to turbulent flow and compare the friction factor with theory in each regime.
- Pipe friction in laminar flow (Hagen-Poiseuille)
- Pipe friction in turbulent flow
- Critical Reynolds number and transition
- Friction factor against Reynolds number

MOQ, lead time and packing are confirmed on each quotation for the quantity and the delivery destination. Single trainers and complete fluid mechanics laboratories for engineering colleges, polytechnics and TVET institutes, including tender orders, are supplied.
Frequently asked questions
What size is the test pipe?
400 mm long with an inside diameter of 3 mm.
How are laminar and turbulent tests separated?
Laminar tests use the 5 L constant-head tank and twin tube manometers; turbulent tests use the lab supply and a dial-gauge manometer.
What pressure ranges are covered?
2 x 370 mm WC on the twin tube manometers and 0 to 0.4 bar on the dial gauge.
