The Gold Leaf Electroscope in Flask (product code JA-EE-7678) is a simple, clear electroscope for detecting electric charge. A glass conical flask is closed with a rubber bung that supports a brass rod, and a gold leaf attached to the lower end of the rod hangs inside the flask, where it is protected from draughts. When a charged object touches or approaches the top of the rod, the leaf moves, showing that charge is present. Replacement gold leaves are available separately.
