Measuring the speed of sound with the kit
Students place the microphones a measured distance apart, strike the metal plate with the hammer in line with them, and read the travel time from the Fast Timer; dividing distance by time gives the speed of sound in air, and repeating at several spacings gives a graph and an average value.
