The Sound Level Meter (SKU JA-TAMI-1006) measures sound pressure level over a range of 50 dB to 110 dB. Sound picked up by the instrument is amplified, attenuated to the selected range and read on a moving-coil meter calibrated directly in decibels. It runs on batteries, so it can be carried from the physics laboratory to a workshop floor, a vehicle or an open public area without a mains lead.
