Rubber in Shear Apparatus
Product Code : JA-ELA-5516
The Rubber in Shear Apparatus (SKU JA-ELA-5516) is a strength-of-materials experiment supplied by JaincoLab for studying how a very flexible material behaves under shear. A rubber block 150 x 75 x 25 mm is bonded between two aluminium alloy plates: one plate is screwed to a wall, and a loaded weight hanger applies a shear load to the other, while a dial gauge measures the deflection of the block. Rubber blocks loaded in this way are widely used as engine and equipment mountings to isolate vibration.
