Three Wire Suspension Apparatus
Product Code : JA-ELA-5520
The Three Wire Suspension Apparatus (SKU JA-ELA-5520) is a statics experiment supplied by JaincoLab for studying the vertical equilibrium of two-wire and three-wire suspension systems. A free-standing backboard supports three tensile suspenders that meet at a ring carrying a load hanger. The outer suspenders are at about 30 and 45 degrees to the central vertical one, and a spring balance in each suspender reads its tension. The length of each suspender is set by a threaded rod attached to its spring balance.

Experiments
With two wires the tensions follow from equilibrium alone; adding the central wire makes the system statically indeterminate, so its share of the load depends on how the wires are adjusted.
- Vertical equilibrium of a two-wire suspension
- Vertical equilibrium of a three-wire suspension
- The action of the central vertical redundant force
Scope of supply and ordering
The apparatus is supplied by JaincoLab with its spring balances, load hanger and instruction manual; weights, quantity and packing are confirmed on the quotation.
Frequently asked questions
