Physics of Fiber Optics Trainer
Product Code : JA-FOT-1543
The Physics of Fiber Optics Trainer introduces optical fibre behaviour with a 635 nm red LED transmitter, two silicon photodetectors and 1 m and 5 m plastic fibres, then builds analogue, digital and voice links. It has an on-board sine and TTL square-wave generator, an 8-LED signal strength indicator and four switch faults for fault-finding practice (SKU JA-FOT-1543).

Frequently asked questions
What light source and detectors does it use?
A 635 nm red LED transmitter and two silicon photodetectors.
Which fibre losses can be measured?
Propagation loss in the fibre, connector loss and bending loss.
What is the switch-fault section for?
Four switch faults, in the function generator, audio preamplifier, signal strength and audio amplifier sections, let students study the effect of each fault.
