Lenz Law - Open & closed loop
Product Code : JA-EE-7639
Lenz Law - Open and closed loop (product code JA-EE-7639) is a simple, visual Lenz law apparatus. When a magnet is pushed through the complete loop, the current induced in the loop creates a field that opposes the magnet, and the device moves away; when the magnet is pushed through the split loop, no current can flow and nothing moves. The contrast teaches both Faraday's law of induction and Lenz's law in a single demonstration.
Specifications
The apparatus provides two loops: a complete (closed) loop and a split (open) loop. A bar magnet, supplied separately, is moved through each loop in turn to compare the effect.

| Laws demonstrated | Faraday's law of induction, Lenz's law |
Applications of the Lenz law apparatus
The apparatus is used in induction lessons to show that an induced current needs a complete circuit and that it always opposes the change that produces it.
- Demonstrating Lenz's law in senior secondary physics
- Showing that no current is induced in an open loop
- Linking electromagnetic induction to eddy currents and braking
- Class demonstrations and student investigations with a bar magnet
Scope of supply and ordering
The listing covers one Lenz's law apparatus with open and closed loops. Bar magnets, accessories, spares and quantities are confirmed on the quotation.
MOQ, lead time and packing are confirmed on each quotation for the number of units and destination. JaincoLab supplies single schools, bulk orders for school networks and colleges, and export orders to Africa, the Middle East and South and South-East Asia.
Frequently asked questions
What does the apparatus show?
A magnet moved through the closed loop makes it move, while the split loop does not move, because no current can flow in it.
Which laws does it teach?
Faraday's law of induction and Lenz's law.
Is a magnet included?
Whether a bar magnet is supplied is confirmed on the quotation, and one can be added to the enquiry if required.
