The geotechnical gauge is a water-resistant 127 x 203 mm (5 x 8 inch) plastic card on a lanyard for describing and classifying soils. It sorts coarse and fine-grained soils into fifteen descriptive categories under the Unified Soil Classification System, using six colour chips, four patches of sized grains and four tables (SKU JA-SM-8880).
