Youngs Modulus Apparatus
Product Code : JA-LS-4998
The Youngs Modulus Apparatus (SKU JA-LS-4998) is a wire-extension apparatus made by JaincoLab for finding Young's modulus of a metal wire in the physics laboratory. The wires hang from a ceiling clamp, and a scale plate carrying a 0 to 30 mm scale with a movable vernier reading to 0.1 mm measures how far the loaded wire stretches as masses are added.

Uses in physics practicals
- Determining Young's modulus of the material of a given wire from its extension under known loads
- Plotting load against extension to study Hooke's law for a wire within its elastic limit
- Class 11 and 12 physics practicals and first-year B.Sc mechanics laboratories
Scope of supply and ordering
Supply covers the scale plate with vernier, the ceiling clamp with its wood screws and the wire bars with hooks as listed; whether wires and slotted weights are included, and the quantity and packing, are confirmed on the quotation.
Frequently asked questions
What is the least count of the vernier?
0.1 mm, read against a 0 to 30 mm scale.
How is the apparatus mounted?
A ceiling clamp holds the upper ends of the wires and is fixed to an overhead beam or door frame with the pair of large wood screws provided.
What hangs from the hooks?
The tension weight that keeps the wire taut and the loading masses.
