Solenoid
Product Code : JL-LE-10664
The Solenoid (SKU JL-LE-10664, Cat. No. JSS-411/091) is a 370 mm long coil of 270 turns of 1.25 mm wire on a 50 mm diameter, rated for currents up to 6 A and connected through two safety sockets. With a known number of turns per unit length, it produces a well-defined magnetic field inside the coil, so students can map the field and relate its strength to the current.

Experiments with the 270-turn solenoid
- Mapping the field inside and around the coil with a plotting compass or field probe
- Showing that the field inside the solenoid grows with the current
- Comparing the uniform field inside the coil with the weaker field at its ends
- Measuring the field at the centre with a Hall probe at several currents and plotting field against current
Scope of supply and ordering
The solenoid is quoted on its own; a power supply and field probe are separate items, so add them to your enquiry if required. Quantities, packing and lead time are confirmed on the quotation.
