The Soil Hydrometer (SKU JA-ELA-5417) is a clear glass hydrometer made by JaincoLab for grain size analysis of soils in which more than 10% of the material passes the 75 micron sieve. As the particles settle out of suspension, the density read on the stem falls, and the readings give the proportion of fine silt and clay. The density scale is engraved on the upper stem and reads 0.995 to 1.030 g/cc at 27 °C in divisions of 0.0005.
