The Moon Phases Model (SKU JL-LE-11546, Cat. No. JSS-058/0101) is a geared model of the Sun, Earth and Moon in which a bright lamp stands in for the Sun. The gearing is set so that the model steps through each month as the Earth travels round the Sun, keeping the Moon in the right relationship to both. With the lamp lit, the class can see directly how light from the Sun produces day and night, the phases of the Moon and eclipses. The model measures 650 mm long and 250 mm high.
