Long Milling Arbors

Long milling arbors mount milling cutters on horizontal and universal milling machines, with the arbor held in the spindle by the draw bar and supported in the machine brackets through bearing bushes. They are made of forged manganese chromium alloy steel hardened to 58-62 HRC and are listed with ISO 30, 40 and 50, BT and Morse tapers (SKU JA-MMTM-8963).

Selecting a long milling arbor
- Taper: ISO, BT or Morse, to match the machine spindle
- Length: to suit the space available between the machine brackets; shorter arbors are advisable where possible
- Thread hand: LH threads for clockwise (RH) cutter rotation to avoid loosening, RH threads for anticlockwise rotation
