The Hoffmann Voltmeter (SKU JL-LE-11376, Cat. No. JSS-474/037) is a Hofmann voltameter: the classic electrolysis apparatus for decomposing water into hydrogen and oxygen in front of a class. It comes with one pair of carbon and platinum electrodes, a clamp and stand and a glass stopcock, and is used in school and college chemistry to show the composition of water by electrolysis. Hydrogen gathers above the cathode and oxygen above the anode, so the two gas volumes can be compared directly on the tubes.
