The e and m by Helical Method apparatus (SKU JA-EMA-1066) measures the specific charge e/m of the electron with a cathode ray tube placed inside a solenoid. It has three main parts: a standard solenoid of several wound layers on a wooden base, a CRT mounted so that it can move inside the solenoid, and the supplies, a cathode supply with a high-resistance voltmeter and a solenoid supply with coarse and fine control and an ammeter for the solenoid current.
