The Conservation of Angular Momentum apparatus (SKU JA-ELA-5514) is a demonstration unit supplied by JaincoLab for showing what happens to a spinning body when its mass is drawn towards the axis. A vertical board carries a rotating arm on which two weights can be slid by a pull cord. With the weights at the outer ends of their travel the arm is spun by hand; pulling the cord draws the weights to the centre, and the arm spins markedly faster. It is the same effect an ice skater uses in a pirouette.
