The Chloroscope (SKU JA-ELA-5426), also listed as a chlorine test kit, is a colour comparator made by JaincoLab for checking residual chlorine in drinking water from 0.25 to 2.0 ppm. A 5 ml water sample is treated with one or two drops of o-tolidine reagent, left ten minutes for the colour to develop, and matched against the colour standards to read the chlorine level from the ppm scale on the front. It is used by public health departments, water testing labs, swimming pools and industrial labs.

How the chlorine test is done
- Fill the test tube with the water sample to the 5 ml mark
- Add 1 to 2 drops of o-tolidine solution with the dropper and shake well
- Leave the tube for ten minutes for the colour to develop
- Insert the tube in the 1st, 2nd or 3rd hole, match the colour and read ppm from the scale
- Empty the tube and clean it with fresh water and a brush
