The Simple Pantograph (SKU JA-PLE-4198) is a working model of the standard linkage for copying a drawing or locus at a larger or smaller scale. A movement traced at one point of the linkage is reproduced, magnified, at another point, and the reverse gives a reduced copy. This simple pantograph mechanism model is one of a series of sixteen A3 board-mounted mechanisms used in engineering drawing, theory of machines and geometry teaching.
Specifications
The mechanism is based on two long links AB and BC with a fixed pivot at C, while two short links DE and DF form a rhombus BEDF; any movement of D is copied at a magnified scale at A, and a movement of A at the reciprocal reduced scale at D.
