The Simple Fractional Distillation Apparatus (SKU JL-LE-11595, Cat. No. JSS-025/0147) is a borosilicate glass set-up with 24/29 joints for separating liquids whose boiling points are close together. The mixture is heated in a 250 ml round bottom flask, and the vapour rises through a Vigreux column, whose indentations give a large surface on which it repeatedly condenses and re-vaporises, so the more volatile component reaches the top first.
