What the photoelectric effect experiment shows
The set demonstrates the observations behind the photon model of light:
- For each metal there is a critical frequency: light below it releases no electrons, light above it always does
- Electrons are emitted within a very short time after the light arrives
- The number of emitted electrons is proportional to the intensity of the light
- Together these results support the relation E = hf, where f is the frequency of the radiation and h is Planck's constant
