The Parallel Plate Capacitor (product code JA-EE-7682) is a demountable capacitor for investigating capacitance. It consists of two aluminium plates, each 250 x 250 x 2.9 mm with a 4 mm socket, together with a 260 x 260 mm acetate sheet and a 260 x 25 mm acetate strip, both about 1.5 mm thick. The acetate is used as a dielectric between the plates or as spacers, so students can change plate separation and dielectric and measure the effect on capacitance.
