The Metric Wheel (SKU JA-MLI-1819) makes it easy for students to measure long distances. The wheel has a circumference of half a metre (50 cm) and is attached to a plastic rod covered with a rubber grip, so each time the wheel completes one revolution it has covered half a metre. Pupils walk the wheel along a corridor or playground, count the turns and multiply by 0.5 m to find the distance. Its non-slip rubber tyre keeps the wheel rolling rather than sliding.
