Linear Expansion Apparatus
Product Code : JL-LE-10613
The Linear Expansion Apparatus (SKU JL-LE-10613, Cat. No. JSS-119/068) measures how much a metal rod lengthens when it is heated by steam. A 50 cm rod, 4.5 mm in diameter, is held inside a metal tube that acts as a steam jacket, supported at each end by detachable rubber bungs. The tube has tubules for the steam inlet, the steam outlet and a thermometer, and a gauge reads the expansion. Three rods are included.

Experiments with the coefficient of linear expansion apparatus
- Measuring the increase in length of a metal rod heated from room temperature to steam temperature
- Calculating the coefficient of linear expansion from the change in length, the original length and the temperature rise
- Comparing the expansion of the three rods supplied
Scope of supply and ordering
The apparatus is supplied with the gauge and three rods; a steam generator and thermometer are not named in the listing. Quantities, packing and lead time are confirmed on the quotation.
Frequently asked questions
