Force Table
Product Code : JL-LE-10589
The Force Table (SKU JL-LE-10589, Cat. No. JSS-615/057) is used to study the vector nature of forces and to verify the law of composition and resolution of forces. Masses hung from cords over the pulleys pull on a central ring; when the ring sits balanced around the centre pin, the forces are in equilibrium and can be checked against a vector diagram. This force table for vector addition stands on a heavy tripod base.

Experiments on the force table for vector addition
- Finding the resultant of two or three forces and comparing it with a parallelogram or triangle of forces
- Resolving a single force into two perpendicular components
- Showing the equilibrium of concurrent forces by centring the ring around the pin
Scope of supply and ordering
The table comes with its four pulley clamps, suspension cords with central ring and the centre pin; masses are not named in the listing, so add them to your enquiry if needed. Quantities, packing and lead time are set out on the quotation.
Frequently asked questions
How is the scale on the force table graduated?
The raised rim carries a circular scale from 0 to 360° in 1° divisions, numbered every 10°.
How many pulleys does the table have?
Four adjustable pulley clamps with index marks, which can be fixed anywhere around the rim.
How do you know the forces are balanced?
The central ring sits centred around the detachable pin when the masses and pulley positions are in equilibrium.
