The Carbon Dioxide Sensor (SKU JL-LE-11312, Cat. No. JSS-457/012) measures gaseous carbon dioxide from 0 to 5000 ppm by recording how much infrared radiation the CO2 molecules absorb. It is supplied by JaincoLab with a chamber for controlled experiments, so students can follow CO2 changes during photosynthesis and respiration in small plants, seeds and animals.

Experiments with the carbon dioxide sensor
Biology and chemistry practicals it supports:
- Photosynthesis: falling CO2 around a plant or leaves in the chamber under light
- Respiration: rising CO2 from germinating seeds, beans or small invertebrates such as crickets
- Comparing respiration rates at different temperatures
- Following CO2 released in chemical reactions, such as an acid on a carbonate
